Green lifestyles and environmental awareness are growing in prominence and popularity across the country, with the introduction of the Commission for a Greener Tomorrow in Central Wisconsin exemplifying this movement.  In the field of energy, this trend can be seen with the growing concern over implementing renewable energy into a community's energy mix.  Wisconsin Public Service has taken a proactive role at the local level to ensure its customers have the opportunity to take part in this movement toward increased renewable energy use.

NatureWise, a renewable energy program, produces electricity from wind and biomass gases using windmill-like turbines and naturally occurring gases from local farm wastes and landfills. The renewable energy produced is then added to Wisconsin Public Service's community energy mix, and as a result, reduces the amount of coal and natural gas burned to produce similar amounts of energy.  No pollution, waste, or greenhouse gases are produced or emitted in either process.

As a customer of Wisconsin Public Service, you can buy up to six blocks of 100 kilowatt-hours of electricity a month, with each block being a product of the NatureWise programs renewable energy.  Each block costs $1 per month and constitutes about 15-20% of a typical customers monthly electric bill.  For more specific information pertaining to the NatureWise program and your home, farm, or business, visit the NatureWise (Wisconsin Public Service Corporation) website.  The more support Wisconsin Public Service receives through the NatureWise program, the more renewable energy that can be produced, and the healthier the land, air, and water of Central Wisconsin will be.
