 Become a Team Member

The Commission for a Greener Tomorrow is comprised of different teams, all focusing on a different area of sustainability. Attend a few team meetings and talk with friendly, passionate individuals already involved to find your place within the Commission, and within the green movement. Team members attend regular meetings, share and build off ideas for projects within the community, and volunteer at local and regional events that promote sustainable lifestyles.

Water Team Work with area water works to reduce pollutants and improve the efficiency and environmentally friendly means through which Central Wisconsin residents receive and dispose of their water.

Energy Team
  Issues surrounding electrical energy, renewable energy, and energy conservation. A small focus is placed upon personal energy as well, including health & wellness issues and ways in which you can benefit your health while helping the environment.

 Transportation-Mobility Team  Help create a Central Wisconsin community that embraces forms of mass transit, as well as other forms of green transportation such as bicycling, walking, hybrid vehicles, etc.

Buildings Team 
Work closely with individuals passionate about promoting means in which to build using and/or reusing green materials. Guidance for the group comes from members who are a part of the Samuels Group, a local commercial contractor dedicated to leading the LEED/Green movement in building.

Communication-Education Team  Help the Commission advertise its various projects and successes throughout the community and be at the center hub of promotion and communication both internally within the Commission, and community-wide.

Waste/Recycling Team  Increase awareness throughout the community of Central Wisconsin of ways in which to efficiently recycle and reuse their household waste.

Neighborhood Development Team  Focus on effective ways in which to advance the green movement as a whole throughout Central Wisconsin.
invlvd_8 Attend a meeting!   The Neighborhood Development Team meets the first Monday of the month in the Maple Room at Wausau City Hall from 4:30 – 5:30 p.m.    Chairperson: Kevin Korpela

CFL and Vote Team  The goal of this project is to raise environmental literacy AND provide compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to enable residents in Portage and Marathon counties to take an immediate first step toward sustainability in their own homes. The project will distribute over 5,000 CFLS in these two counties by distributing them in or near the polling places during the presidential election, a more sustainable distribution than driving door-to-door.invlvd_9

  The next CFL and Vote Team meeting is July 24th at 4:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Public Service Office (1700 Sherman Street, Wausau)
