CFL_and_Vote

The next CFL & Vote Team meeting is October 22 at 5:00 p.m. at the Wisconsin Public Service office (1700 Sherman St., Wausau).

Overview of Project

The goal of this grant request is to raise the environmental literacy AND provide compact fluorescent light bulbs (CFLs) to enable residents in Portage and marathon counties to take an immediate first step toward sustainability in their own homes. Compact fluorescent bulbs use ΒΌ of the electricity that incandescent bulbs use and last up to eight times longer, saving energy, money and time! This project will distribute over 5,000 CFLs in these two counties by distributing them in or near the polling places during the presidential election, a more sustainable distribution method than driving door-to-door.

The primary focus will include the Town of Stockton, City of Stevens Point and the City of Wausau. We will fund raise for additional CFLs to meet the voters in these three communities; additional funds will be used in other interested municipalities as directed by the local interest. Information on CFLs and the sustainability groups will be available to all municipalities in Portage and Marathon counties.
